A Happily Pink Journey: One month progress

Back in January I started “A Happily Pink Journey” running group and I’m happy to say the members are doing a fantastic job; they consecutively ran all four Saturdays!

Happily Pink Runners:
Manny
Esteban
Lauren
Cait
Leah
Josiah
Luna
Miah

Guest Runners:
Victoria
Kieran

The objective of the group is be a fun, casual run where you get to socialize with others. A lot of the runners who joined hadn’t ran in a few years or were interested in getting back into running. I am incredibly proud of the progress they have made! If someone starts to get behind, then we slow down the pace. It’s a team-building and encouraging process. We run nonstop unless we happen to come across an adorable dog that we must pet ha. However, whatever happens, we do not walk. We will come to a jog but the goal is to never walk. Depending on how the group feels, we run 2-3.5mi and I feel they can definitely run more as time goes by. My two friends who came in from out of town, Victoria and Kieran, joined us on a Saturday as well!

Want to run with us? Just show up and feel free to bring your dog! We meet at 8:30am on Saturdays outside of Wilko at the University of Arizona. Check out some of the photos of our past runs:

This was our very first run and both Cait and Lauren did well! It was Lauren’s first time running more than a mile, and Cait hadn’t ran in over a year. Proud of these ladies for coming out and taking that first step! I wear my CEP compression socks since I add miles either before/after the group; they help with injury prevention and provide a fast recovery during the runs.

Esteban and Manny joined in this weekend and did phenomenal on keeping a solid “talking-pace” with Lauren and I. Great job guys!

Victoria came down to Tucson to visit me this weekend. We went out and came back home at 4:00am but were up and ready to go at 8:30am… You could say Victoria loves me a lot ha ha. I definitely needed to makeup for the lost of electrolytes and opted in for Nuun Vitamins. Victoria and I were ready to go thanks to Nuun. Leah and her boyfriend, Josiah, joined us and even brought their adorable dog, Luna! Along our run, we came across the cutest corgi! This was the farthest distance the group had ever ran, so you could say I was pretty proud.

During this weekend I was sick in bed but Manny and Esteban still committed to running at the UA! I love their enthusiasm and commitment. 🙂 They even brought Miah to run along with them.

I still had my cough but it felt great to be back with everyone. Kieran came in from out of town and joined us, I appreciate her coming out and running with us when she could’ve been sleeping instead!

I look forward to running events as a group and seeing how everyone will progress. I also love that I’ve been able to add mileage in my Skechers GOmeb Razors– they are perfect for the impact against the concrete at UA. Come join A Happily Pink Journey next Saturday! Please email me at nataliejsanchez89@gmail.com so we know to expect you. 🙂
