I felt entirely blessed to have such an amazing group of girls come down to celebrate my bachelorette in Cancún! Their dedication and planning was perfect.
Gabby, Kindle and I were in love with the turquoise beaches and life in Yucatán. We loved our experience exploring Chichen Itza and Valladolid. A day after our jungle excursion, Stephanie and Kelly arrived and now our group was whole. Steph, my Maid of Honor, did a phenomenal job coordinating and delegating the plans with Gabby, Kelly and Kindle!
When we met our wonderful Airbnb hosts, Carlos and Tatiana, they had surprised us with some adorable decorations. The condo was beyond beautiful and featured a fantastic view of the beach.. Use my Airbnb code nataliejs (or click here) to get $40 off your first stay. While I wanted to tan and get settled, the girls kept pushing me to go to the grocery store with Gabby– so we hopped onto a bus. The bus system is amazing for anyone looking to travel in Cancún. During the day time the buses arrived every two minutes, if not faster.
Anyways, when we came back with the groceries, Gabby and I opened the door to find the entire condo completely decorated with confetti, balloons, an engagement ring and giant unicorn (with magical glitter inside!) floaties, adorable plates and napkins, suggestive candy, tinsel, #SingleNoMoe signs and more! I could not have been more impressed by their effort and found it all quite endearing.
According to our friends who had previously gone to Cancún, Coco Bongo was the no.1 place to check out for night life. Think Marquee in Las Vegas meets Cirque du Solei. We arrived and immediately began receiving drinks. It was crowded, but we were told it’s better to go on Thursday than Friday because Friday is beyond packed. We received a little extra attention since I wore my sash out.
We had our table nearby the stage and had a fantastic view. The performances included dance choreography and aerial silks. The choreography was based off a variety of Broadway shows, radio hits and major cinematography. In between performances, the room would resume to a regular club. The performances happened maybe about every 10-15min? Dancing on the stage was of course fun too! We stayed at Coco Bongo probably for maybe 2-3hr then went back to our room.
The girls had surprises coming left and right and had planned out for me to wear a gorgeous bride suit, with of course my veil. We quickly did photos then headed over to Mandala Beach Club. Gabby had done the research on the best day/night clubs and she did not disappoint us!
Mandala was an ocean front beach club with delicious food! The cabanas we had were incredibly relaxing. Then to add to our relaxation, Steph bought a massage for the both of us. I honestly had no idea how incredible a massage on the beach could be and the massage therapist was able to get many of my knots out from my triathlon training.
The City is like your traditional big club: amazing music and energy. I honestly could not tell you what time we left but we celebrated immediately with a bottle of Moët! Coco Bongo is amazing but I think it’s more of a one-time experience sort of thing– City you could go to multiple nights.
Honestly we all felt exhausted so we decided to spend most of the time relaxing on the beach and mentally getting ready to head back Sunday. We opted out of alcohol from the rest of the trip at this point. By the time the evening rolled around, we decided to do a dinner at a restaurant followed by salsa dancing!
We split two appetizers: a delicious queso made with Oaxaca cheese and other blends and also ceviche. Everyone ordered a variety of dishes and agreed their dish was amazing. I opted for the veracruz fish since I can never get enough of fresh seafood. We finished our dinner with a giant churro and coffee then headed over to go salsa dancing!
Gabby found this gem of a place by doing research prior to the trip. It was outside of the Hotel Zone and we were pretty excited to explore the #LocalLife. We arrived to Mambocafé at about 11:00pm, but the band didn’t arrive until 12:30am. It was later than what we were planning but we still enjoyed a full hour of solid dancing. We couldn’t stay too late because some of the girls had morning flights.
I danced with three different partners but my last was easily the best. Anyone who truly knows me, knows I’m literally the world’s worst dancer with two left feet ha ha. Having a strong dance partner definitely helped me out.
Ah we couldn’t believe the end of the trip arrived! However despite getting home late from salsa dancing, we felt great because we refrained from drinking all of Saturday. Around 7:00am we headed out to the beach to grab some group photos before heading out to the airport.
I could not express more gratitude for these girls giving me the best bachelorette party a bride could ask for! Cancún was a memorable experience in every way and I loved sharing the experience with some of my favorites.
