The moment you’ve all been waiting for: my engagement photo session! Thanks to our incredible photographer, Tara Leinen, Alex and I had the most perfect shoot. When I came across her work I immediately noticed her style was exactly what we were searching for. During our initial meeting with Tara, her bubbly personality was infectious and I also loved how concise she was. It was an easy decision for us to book her!
I would also like to start by stating our photographer was so amazing that she gave us back the fully-edited photos from our engagement shoot in less than a week from when we shot.
Alex and I created two, distinct looks but before I go into details, I would also like to thank the following for sponsoring me:
- Venue: Westin La Paloma Resort. The entire place is elegant and blends in well with the Tucson culture.
- Makeup and Hair: Gadabout Salons and Spa. Miguel created beautiful, loose curls for my hair, and Braigen softly contoured my face.
- Lash Extensions: Lashed by Wendie. Wendie applied a balance of lashes to provide me with a fuller look that was still natural.
I knew I wanted a high-quality, off-shoulder black gown and the Adrianna Papell one I found was perfect. The gown was timeless and elegant in every way possible. I’m also a firm believer you should always have a black gown in your wardrobe… I now have three ha. I accessorized with my black Pigalle Christian Louboutins. With Tara’s help, I styled the dress with Kate Spade yellow-jeweled chandelier earrings and of course, my Tiffany setting engagement ring from Tiffany & Co.
Alex wore a Jos. A. Bank black suit paired with a Brooks Brothers white button-up with barrel cuffs. He accessorized with his black Steve Madden shoes he bought for when he proposed to me. I love that he owns a black suit and feel every man should invest in owning at least one suit.
Tara used the beautiful architecture of La Paloma as a focal point but made sure we were emphasized. As you scroll through the photos, you’ll see why La Paloma is one of my favorite resorts!
Something that I wanted to embody during our shoot was the beautiful, purple mountains of Tucson. Anytime I leave and come back to Tucson, I am always in awe of the majestic mountains. They surround the city and are iconic to locals. I also wanted some cacti in this look. Tara nailed it all so perfectly!
I found the perfect Gianni Bini dress from Dillard’s which was a mauve satin. The cut contrasted well with my previous black gown. I wanted to make sure both looks complemented each other as a collage for my save-the-date. The satin appealed to me because the material created such a delicate touch in the desert. For shoes, I kept it casual by wearing brown, Steve Madden sandals. I also knew we would be in the desert at some point and I didn’t want to stand in rocks while in my high heels. I knew immediately the threaded, gold earrings I received from Melios would match.
Alex wore his gray Jos. A. Banks suit (the same he proposed to me in!) with a Charles Tyrwhitt French Cuff shirt that had a maroon grid design. He accessorized with monogrammed cuff links I gave him as a college graduation present and also his Steve Madden shoes from the first look.
We are grateful our shoot was such a success, and I hope you enjoy the photos as much as we do! #SingleNoMoe
