Wedding Season in New York
Generally speaking, wedding season falls between Spring and Fall. Finding the perfect wedding attire can present a challenge depending on the formality of the wedding but when in doubt, go with a high-quality fabric that has an a-line cut. A nice fabric never fails, and an a-line cut is flattering on everyone.

This past weekend, I celebrated Sarah and Mark’s beautiful wedding in Long Island, New York. Since the venue King’s Point is off of the water, I thought something blue would complement the scenery. Also fun fact, King’s Point was F. Scott Fitzgerald’s inspiration for the infamous and fictional West Egg where The Great Gatsby characters Nick Carraway and Jay Gatsby lived.
Anyways prior to the wedding, I found a beautiful, textured ivory and china-blue dress at Nordstrom Rack by Eliza J. I love Eliza J’s feminine and classic designs but can only fit their petites, specifically 0P or 2P. Thankfully this dress was available as a 2P with previous alterations. Did I mention the dress also had pockets?! Any dress that had pockets gets bonus points in my book. Another detail included a matching fabric belt to accent the waist.
With my frequent travels, I’ve gotten better with packing light. I opted to use my red, Kate Spade New York handbag that I accessorized with for most of the trip. To match the red, I used Sephora’s “Flame Red” lipstain. The nautical look was the perfect combination for this summer wedding. I also used some of my favorite accessories: Jessica Simpson pointed stilettos, high school graduation pearls and Ted Baker cat-eye sunglasses.
Now, about Sarah’s dress… I LOVED how unique and structured the dress was. She found the one at Anthropologie. What I loved about her wedding dress is that the design took a classic, tea-length silhouette and made it modern with different textures and fabrics. The cutouts were also well placed and complemented the high-collar and long-sleeved dress. She styled her beautiful dress with a netted-veil headpiece and Céline champagne, beaded heels. Sarah also wore three different pairs of shoes throughout the ceremony– how fab! See the breakdown below:
Ceremony: Céline champagne beaded and satin opened-toed high heels, detail shot courtesy of Sarah
Cocktail Hour: Isabel Marant “Poppy” pumps in metallic python
Reception: Christian Louboutin black flats
Thank you to Sarah and Mark for inviting me to share your special day with you! The food and desserts were amazing and as the party favors, guests took away a Happy Meal from McD’s– which I was pretty excited about the classic Barbie toy inside haha. It was wonderful to be back in one of my favorite states and also see all of my East Coast friends again.
