Top of London: Night and Day

March 15, 2017

London offers multiple vantage points to view the city. Alex and I saw two of those points: The Shard and the London Eye. I loved the opportunity of viewing the city during both the evening and day because it made each experience unique.

The Shard we ventured off to see the first evening we were in London. It was 8:00-ish and we weren’t really sure what to do so we started walking down the streets until we came up to the Shard magnificently lit up! Without any hesitation, we soon found ourselves going up to the 72nd floor in the elevator to The View observation deck. Luckily there was no line or wait.

While I certainly appreciate the outdoors, I equally love the view of a beautiful city in the evening. I get filled with much excitement when I look out into a city filled with lights! The observation deck was a great choice because we were able to use the viewers to look at attractions throughout London and receive a brief history for each attraction. The viewers also offered four different settings of what you could see: current, summer day time, evening, and I want to say historical? This helped us decide additional places we wanted to see over the next few days.

When I saw the London Eye in photos, I knew it was a must for Alex and I. This we planned out and bought our tickets in advance upon reading travel tips. Fortunately, booking the champagne experience resulted in the shortest wait. Lines are insane in London and especially crazy at the London Eye. Save time by booking in advance, and know the champagne experience gets you in immediately.

So which do you prefer? The London Eye or the Shard? Night or Day?
