BATA

When siblings Courtney, Tyler, and Zach Fenton opened BATA in March 2022, the restaurant quickly gained global recognition. Known for its ever-changing, vegetable-driven menu and live-fire techniques inspired by Japanese robata-style grilling, BATA was also the first in Tucson to introduce a chef’s counter tasting menu.

For Valentine’s Day, BATA stays true to its core identity by offering its standard menu, enhanced with special dishes, indulgent add-ons, and exclusive wines by the glass. Guests choosing the “Cook for Me” experience may also find a splurge-worthy large course, making the night even more memorable.

They are currently fully-booked for Valentine’s Day, but you can still find something later in the evening on Saturday, February 15.

Casa Madre

While I have only been to Casa Madre a few times, it is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots! Owner and Executive Chef Dominique Stoller has not only created a beautiful space—featuring a Himalayan sea salt wall as the restaurant’s backdrop—but also crafted a thoughtfully curated menu. I also have to say, she serves some of the most exquisite cocktails I’ve had in Tucson.

You can experience her menu the entire week of Valentine’s Day.

Charro Steak and Del Rey

Executive Chef Gary Hickey has created an impressive menu at Charro Steak and Del Rey for this year’s Valentine’s Day weekend. I’ve always enjoyed my steak and seafood experiences here, and this special prix-fixe offering is no exception– the chiltipín tortilla crusted sea bass especially caught my eye! If you choose the prix-fixe menu, it’s $139.95 per couple with an array of options. No substitutions are allowed. However, if you have dietary restrictions, you can still order from the regular menu.

CORE Kitchen & Wine Bar (The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain)

For what seems like nearly a decade, Alex and I have been fond of CORE Kitchen & Wine Bar. Tucked away in Marana, this elevated restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain continues to impress. For this year’s Valentine’s Day menu, I was wowed by Chef de Cuisine Christian Dyson’s creative approach.

Chef Dyson designed each course to reflect a different phase of courtship, from the excitement of a first date to the deep connection of a lasting relationship. The meal begins with an amuse-bouche that symbolizes the start of a relationship, setting the stage for a curated progression of dishes.

“By the final course, the menu captures the essence of commitment, intimacy, and the joy of shared moments,” said Chef Dyson.

With every bite, guests are invited to rekindle their senses, reflect on their own love stories, and deepen their connection with their partners.

This exclusive prix-fixe experience is available only on Valentine’s Day for hotel guests at $165 per person, with an automatic 20% gratuity added.
