Plan Your Virtual Tucson Happy Hour

With everyone looking for a way to support the Tucson community, I am here to help you plan your virtual Tucson happy hour! Some of my best friends and I started our virtual happy hours a few years ago as a way to feel engaged with each other. In person, we would drink wine and decided distance should not be the reason why we discontinue one of our favorite pastimes! However, this is the first time I’ve ever done a virtual happy hour with my friends in town.

As executive orders and proclamations continue to get passed, businesses are now restricted to curbside, take-out and delivery. But, they can now sell alcohol to-go. If you’re already buying alcohol, why not buy it from your favorite, local business!

Since things are changing at such a fast pace, I recommend calling a business and checking out their social media for the most current updates. If I missed a business, please let me know. My goal is to encompass Tucson businesses and the surrounding area for this virtual Tucson happy hour.

1912 Brewing

1912 Brewery was established 16 years ago and is known for their sours and goses. Additionally, you will also find 20+ taps of beer that include: blondes, ales, stouts and barrel-aged beers.

American Eat Co.– Market Bar

American Eat Co. is Tucson’s first food court featuring local restaurants. Inside, you’ll find different restaurants and Market Bar. Market Bar is currently selling $13 bottles of wine, beer packs and growlers for the local beer on tap. Additionally they’re doing a special with Pops Hot Chicken where you can buy two sandwiches and a growler for $24.

Borderlands Brewing Company

Borderlands Brewing Company, located in Downtown Tucson, is a craft beer brewery. They are offering delivery to residents in a five-miles radius. If you don’t live nearby, you can pick-up your order Thursday–Sunday.

Commoner & Co., an Ares Collective, takes on the concept of elevated comfort food. To provide value, they created a new take-out menu to feed families of two and four. Alcohol-wise, quite a bit is offered: cocktails, liquor bottles, beer, growlers and half-off wine bottles.

Donut Bar opened in Tucson last month and has quickly become a local favorite! They are selling beer and wine growlers to go. You can place your order in advance or the day of.

El Charro Cafe

El Charro Cafe has served Tucson Mexican food for 98 years! They are considered the first to invent the chimichanga. They are selling family meal kits to keep costs low, while providing generous portions. In addition to margaritas, you can get half-off bottled wine and beer.

Hotel Congress recently celebrated their centennial! They are selling liquor, wine and beer– which is available through their online store, the front desk or the Cup Cafe. Hotel McCoy is a mid-century modern art hotel, with a focus on the 1960s. Currently, they are selling Arizona wines for $20, Tucson-canned beer, Wild Tonic Hard Kombucha and a Prescott-based cider– Superstitious Blueberry Spaceship. Superstitious Blueberry Spaceship is packaged in a resealable wine bottle to preserve the bubbles. To order, call ahead or simply pull up to the drive thru and honk!

Postino WineCafe just opened last month and we need to make sure they get their moment to show Tucson what they’re all about! The Phoenix-based restaurant is largely known for their bruschetta and wine. The restaurant is generously offering their wines (regularly $31-42) for only $15! As another bonus, their famous Monday-Tuesday Board and Bottle deal is available to-go, meaning you get a bruschetta board and bottle of wine for only $25. Prep & Pastry is easily one of Tucson’s top spots for its fresh assortment of pastries, mimosa menu and brunch staples. Good news is that you can order cocktails to-go, like their Bloody Mary or mimosa kit. If you do curbside pick-up instead of delivery, you’ll even get a free coffee by EXO Roast Co.

Thunder Canyon Brewery is a local brewery and distillery. They are one of the restaurants that took charge to support the community by offering a free meal to anyone who lost their job. They are selling rum, canned beer and growlers.

Tito & Pep is a contemporary bistro that serves a mesquite-fired cuisine in a colorful presentation. Their menu features fresh seasonal vegetables with a variety of meats. In addition to their food menu, you can purchase wine bottles to go for $4-12. You can’t beat those prices for a virtual Tucson Happy hour! Since several restaurants are severely discounting their wine, please consider extending your tip.

Yamato has served Tucson authentic Japanese food for over 30 years! It’s easily one of my favorite places in town. Their nigiri, chirashi, curry and sukiyaki are the best. Currently, they are selling sake, Japanese beer and American beer.
